Leanna Mix is grateful to join Surfrider Spirit Sessions as Programs Director. Growing up in Waikiki, she literally learned the ropes on her family’s beach catamaran business, starting a lifelong affection for the unique nature of the visitor industry.
With degrees in psychology and whole systems design, Leanna has lived and worked around the world in marketing and strategic business development. In each assignment, she found volunteer opportunities that were invaluable in creating connections with people & cultures. Time and experience in Asia Pacific, Oceania, Europe, and the Middle East helped her to appreciate the role of social enterprise, particularly in transforming the hospitality and empowering local economies.
In 2023, she moved back to Honolulu and jumped into the water in every way possible. Leanna paddles and coaches junior paddling with the Honolulu Elks, sails whenever possible, and loves sharing ocean activities with her granddaughter. Since joining SSS, she has been inspired by the organization's momentum and its potential to increase mindfulness and engagement as it grows.
