Royal Adventures is our innovative social enterprise, created to advance organizational sustainability and support Hawaii teens.
Mission-Driven Tourism
Visitors enjoy a rich cultural experience while supporting Hawaii’s youth.
Nearly twenty years ago, Surfrider Spirit Sessions was founded on a radical idea: sentencing kids to surfing when surfing wasn’t even part of schools or youth development programs. What began as an experiment evolved into a proven model for positive impact—showing that surfing, paired with consistent mentorship, builds confidence, connection, and belonging.
Royal Adventures is the next evolution of that work. Through this social enterprise venture, we’re extending ocean and cultural education beyond our programs and into the broader community while generating sustainable support for Hawaii youth.
Community-Corporate Partnership
Royal Adventures celebrated its soft launch on December 8, 2025, made possible through strong, values-aligned community partnerships. We are proud to collaborate with the Waikiki Beach Boys Association (also known as Star Beach Boys Waikiki), whose deep roots in ocean stewardship and cultural knowledge help shape every experience. Our staff consists of experienced guides and instructors, as well as former youth from the Spirit Sessions program.
We are grateful to be hosted by the Hilton Waikiki Beach Resort & Spa, located on the historic grounds of Prince Kuhio’s former estate. The prime lobby space, equipment storage, and in-room promotions are invaluable. Our onsite staff help promote awareness of Prince Kuhio’s good works and connection to Waikiki and surf culture.
Together, we ensure Royal Adventures remains locally grounded, culturally respectful, and directly supportive of youth programs in Hawaii.
A One-of-a-Kind Social Enterprise Venture
Our team includes former Surfrider Spirit Sessions youth who bring lived experience and leadership into each tour.
Each surf lesson includes cultural and spiritual context, honoring the deeper significance of surfing in Hawaii.
Tours directly support the sustainability of Surfrider Spirit Sessions and its mission.
No other surf tour we know of is built in this way.
Aloha aku, aloha mai
(When love is given, love is returned)
Royal Adventures is an example of regenerative tourism—designed to deepen connection to ocean, culture, and place while giving back to the community that makes these experiences possible.
Proceeds from Royal Adventures directly support Surfrider Spirit Sessions’ youth programs and help strengthen opportunities for local community members. In this way, every experience contributes to a cycle of care, stewardship, and impact.
