Peter Apo is President of The Peter Apo Company, providing consulting services to companies doing business in Hawaii for the first time. He has served as a Hawaii State Legislator, State and County Government Administrator, Trustee of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, founder of the Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association, certified mediator, and Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army for Hawaii. He continues to dedicate much of his time to serving on numerous boards and commissions as a community service.
A lifelong waterman, Peter grew up in Makaha, Oahu, where the ocean shaped his values and leadership. He is a former paddling coach, an avid bodyboarder, and a strong advocate for ocean-based knowledge, mentorship, and connection to aina and kai—principles that closely align with the mission of Surfrider Spirit Sessions.
In addition to his public service, Peter is an accomplished singer-songwriter, Nā Hoku Hanohano Award winner, and leader of the Peter Apo Band, using music as another way to perpetuate Hawaiian culture and storytelling. He is also a devoted husband, father of four, and grandfather of seven.
