How our Butt Busters Campaign works: SSS youth and their mentors will be busting butts, working hard to keep Kuhio Beach in Waikiki, pollution-free. Please support them as they clean beaches and pick up cigarette butts to save honu (sea turtles) for 8-Saturdays this summer. They know that beach pollution harms our oceans and that toxins in cigarette butts can be deadly. Turtles often mistake debris for food and just 10 cigarette butts can kill a small turtle. Butt Busting is our way of malama aina (caring for the land) and giving back to our community.

On average, we collect between 300 and 400 cigarette butts at each clean up.
Total counts for each day average 800 per day and 6,000 at the end of 8-week programs.
Our goal is to pick up 6,000 cigarette butts, and potentially save 600 turtles.
